David Duchovny Rehabbing for Sex Addiction
The truth is out there, whether we want it or not.
David Duchovny has checked into rehab to undergo treatment for sex addiction.
"I have voluntarily entered a facility for the treatment of sex addiction," the actor said in a statement released by his attorney to People. "I ask for respect and privacy for my wife and children as we deal with this situation as a family."
The X-Files star—who, ironically, won a Golden Globe this year for playing an over-sexed struggling writer on Showtime's Californication—has been married to Téa Leoni since May 1997. They have two children together, daughter Madelaine West, 9, and son Kyd Miller, 6.
A Showtime executive had no comment but told E! News Thursday that season two of Californication, premiering Sept. 28, finished shooting late last month and 12 episodes are ready to go.
German Studio Offers to Ease Valkyrie Extras' Pain
The German studio that has helped Tom Cruise jump over the various hurdles involved in filming in Deutschland wants to help the actor avoid yet another big headache.
The head of Studio Babelsberg AG, which is coproducing Valkyrie with Cruise's United Artists, said Thursday that it has proposed a settlement to 12 extras who want $11 million to cover injuries they say they suffered when a side panel of an old military truck they were riding in fell off.
The 12 angry men, who reportedly were left with injuries ranging from cuts and bruises to pulled ligaments and broken bones, have sent a letter to United Artists demanding compensation and threatening legal action.
Meanwhile, it was sister company Achte Babelsberg Film GmbH, that hired the extras, according to Studio Babelsberg president and CEO Charles Woebcken.
The Dark Knight Downsizes
Even Batman gets tired.
The Dark Knight grossed $986,453 yesterday, the first time the supreme summer blockbuster had failed to make at least $1 million in a single day.
The movie, already Hollywood's No. 2 all-time grosser at the domestic box office, is expected to rally this weekend, and bring its overall total to an epic $500 million.
Through Wednesday, its 41st day in release, The Dark Knight had grossed $492.7 million.
At the same point in its run in 1998, Titanic, Hollywood's reigning domestic champ, had grossed $280.2 million.
Any appearance that The Dark Knight is winning the race with Titanic, however, is deceiving.

• While we were still waiting for Tim Gunn to call us for a chat, the Project Runway mentor gave OK! a choice quote about Jennifer Aniston's wardrobe: "Sometimes I think she has 'desperate character' written on her. The clothes we wear send a message. And I think that's the message—I don't think that's her intention though."

Mackenzie Phillips Makes Bail
Mackenzie Phillips can start taking it one day at a time on the outside.
Having spent the night in the slammer following a drug bust, the former sitcom star was released from Van Nuys Jail Thursday at 2:30 p.m. after posting $10,000 bail, E! News has confirmed.
The 48-year-old actress-singer was brought to the facility Wednesday and booked on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance after admitting to officers she had a "drug problem"—and was found to be holding small amounts of both cocaine and heroin while trying to get through security at Los Angeles International Airport.
Along with the requisite handful of bail bondsmen, Phillips received a visit in jail from half-sister Bijou Phillips and Bijou's boyfriend, Danny Masterson, yesterday afternoon.

DMX Profanely Pleads Out in Miami Drug Bust
DMX is slowly cleaning up after himself. Albeit a bit messily.
The beleaguered rapper was sentenced to time served Thursday in Miami after pleading not guilty to attempted marijuana and cocaine possession, a deal that will allow him to avoid jail time—in the Sunshine State, at least.
He was also ordered to pay a $483 court fine and return for a follow-up hearing Oct. 3. To which DMX could be heard replying, "I ain't coming back on f--king Oct. 3," per MTV News.
But they're apparently going to let him leave anyway.
"You need to tell your client that I've heard the F-word before," Judge Lawrence Schwartz told defense attorney Bradford Cohen. "He can send it to me anytime he wants to come in, if that's what makes him happy, but he certainly didn't help his stature any with what he mumbled as he left the podium."
Now It's Michael Lohan's Turn to Respond
After Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson blogged out their Michael Lohan frustrations on MySpace, we knew it was only a matter of hours until M.Lo came up with some kind of response. He tells ABCNews.com:
"Who's out of control? Whose life is out of control? Give me a break. Going from place to place, being dragged around by Samantha so she can make more money off of Lindsay being there when she spins...She's gone from making $7 million to less than a million a movie. Who's out of control?
